Welcome to High Mourne House
Some places you visit. The Mournes, you feel. Granite peaks that drop straight into the Irish Sea, drystone walls running up hillsides older than the roads, and that particular quiet you only get when the nearest town is a forest and a mountain away.
High Mourne House sits in the countryside near Annalong, with Newcastle, the coast and the high peaks all within an easy drive. It's built for the kind of break where the plan is to have no plan: a long walk, a longer soak in the hot tub, the log burner lit, and nobody's alarm set for the morning.
Two nights or a full week, a couple or a family of six, wellies or wetsuits, the house takes it all in its stride.
What's waiting for you
Private covered hot tub
Steam rising, stars above, a roof for when the Mourne weather does its thing. Yours alone, all stay.
Real log burner
Kindling and logs left ready. The good kind of evening starts here.
Mountain & countryside views
Wake up to the peaks. Watch the light move across them with your morning coffee.
Enclosed dog-friendly garden
Bring the dog. Secure fencing, room to roam, and the coastal path you can walk to from the gate.
Sleeps up to six
Three bedrooms, proper beds, space to spread out. Sociable, not squeezed.
EV charger on site
Arrive on empty, leave on full. Charge overnight while you sleep.
Room to relax, inside and out
Inside, it's open and easy: a kitchen you'd actually want to cook in, a sitting room built around the log burner, and bedrooms kept calm and comfortable. Outside, a private patio for dining in the long summer evenings, the covered hot tub a few steps from the back door, and that view doing most of the work.
Everything's here for a self-catering stay that feels less like renting and more like arriving somewhere that's briefly, entirely yours.

The Mournes, on your doorstep
This is walking country, driving country, do-nothing country, whatever you're after.

Walking
Slieve Donard and Slieve Binnian for the summit-baggers, Tollymore Forest Park for gentler woodland trails, and the Silent Valley reservoir for one of the most photographed views in Ireland. Trailheads are minutes away by car.
Explore walking routes →Along the coast
Newcastle's promenade and sandy beach, the fishing harbours of Annalong and Kilkeel, and a coastal road that earns every mile. Fish suppers, sea air, ice cream on the front.
Coastal days out →Take it slow
Or don't leave at all. The hot tub, the garden, a book by the fire, and the mountains changing colour through the window. Some of the best days here involve no driving whatsoever.
